Vikings belong to Minnesota for 2012

The Vikings will belong to Minneapolis for at least one more year.

The team would have had to notify the NFL of a desire to move to another city by today, and that is not going to happen the team’s vice president Lester Bagley told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

That doesn’t mean the Vikings won’t call the moving vans in the future if they cannot get their protracted stadium search resolved in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. But for 2012 the Vikings will play at the Metrodome, which turns 30 this spring.

The Vikings’ push for a new stadium has been slowed at the state capitol and now there is concern the issue will not be solved this year. Hope is a financial proposal for a site near the Metrodome will come together in the near future.

“We're making progress toward solving it this session," Bagley told the Star Tribune.

The legislative session remains open for another six weeks. The clock is ticking.
