Vikings hoping Favre can start vs. Bears
Leslie Frazier is hoping Brett Favre can return for the Minnesota Vikings this week.
Otherwise, his team stands the real possibility of having to sign a quarterback off the street AND start him Monday night against the Chicago Bears.
Tarvaris Jackson is ailing from turf toe, and the Vikings are not prepared to start rookie Joe Webb. For now, they’ll hope that the sprained SC joint that ended Favre’s streak of 297 consecutive starts Monday night in Detroit will heal up. Otherwise, the Vikings will consider one of eight street free agents at quarterback, an unthinkable position for a franchise that played in the NFC title game last January to be in.
According to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Favre underwent an ultrasound on his right shoulder and it checked out OK. But keep in mind it took a lot to keep Favre sidelined against the New York Giants. Will he heal up in just a week? The Vikings sure hope so or it could be embarrassing.
Frazier also said the Vikings hope to get wide receiver Percy Harvin back on Thursday. He has missed the previous two games with migraines. Also, running back Adrian Peterson suffered a knee contusion, but is expected to be fine.
