Vikings pick up 2014 option for Leslie Frazier

After leading the Minnesota Vikings to the postseason in his second year, Leslie Frazier has been rewarded with an extended contract.

The club announced this evening that it has picked up the 2014 option for the head coach.

Frazier was preparing for the final year of his contract so this was not a surprise. The timing is right for everyone. Now, the Vikings have it behind them before they head to Indianapolis next week for the NFL Scouting Combine. Everyone’s attention can be focused on scouting and roster moves that need to be made.

The Vikings were 3-13 in 2011 under Frazier in his first full season. They finished 10-6 last season. If Frazier can have success again this season, he will position himself for a substantial pay raise and extension.
