Vikings pick up fifth-year options for Harrison Smith, Matt Kalil
The Minnesota Vikings have picked up fifth-year options for safety Harrison Smith and offensive tackle Matt Kalil for the 2016 season.
Drafted 29th overall, Smith got a $5.3 million option. Smith is one of the top young safeties in the NFL.
A Pro Bowl selection as a rookie as the fourth overall pick, Kalil has struggled badly over the past two seasons.
His option is $11.1 million.
The options are guaranteed for injury only.
