Vikings place Ballard on reserve-left squad list

Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Christian Ballard was placed on the left squad list due to personal reasons.

Ballard hasn't practiced since registering a sack against the Houston Texans to open the preseason.

"[Ballard] is one of those guys we were counting on to be a part in our rotation," Vkings coach Leslie Frazier told reporters "He did a very good job for us a season ago, we're hoping he would help us this year as well. Hopefully, things work out for him. But he has some personal things he has to take care of."

Ballard had 21 tackles, one sack and 18 quarterback pressures last season.

"We talked prior to [Ballard's] leaving. I was well aware, it was not without approval," Frazier said. "There is no timetable."
