Vikings to kick the tires on Jerome Simpson

Free-agent wide receiver Jerome Simpson would have a job by now if he didn’t have a legal matter tangle up his offseason.

Simpson was sentenced to 15 days in jail earlier this month after he was busted accepting a package at his home that included two pounds of marijuana. Simpson was a member of the Cincinnati Bengals at the time.

He is expected to be suspended by the NFL but that hasn’t happened yet. That doesn’t mean there isn’t interest in him. Simpson is visiting the Minnesota Vikings Saturday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, and has already made a visit to the St. Louis Rams.

Simpson probably represents a low-risk investment. If he screws up, he can be launched. If he stays clean, he could be a productive complementary receiver, the kind of player he developed into with the Bengals. Stay tuned.
