Vobora sues supplement maker

St. Louis Rams linebacker David Vobora has filed suits against SWATS, claiming the spray the company manufactured led him to test positive for a banned steroid, leading to his four-game suspension last season.

Vobora, who made 10 starts last season, claims that his image has been “permanently tarnished” and that he lost performance incentives as well as endorsement income after testing positive. He’s seeking money for loss of income and other damages, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Vobora tested positive for a banned substance in June and at that point his suit says that someone sent the spray to a Tennessee lab, which detected the banned substance methyltestosterone.

But the Post-Dispatch contacted SWATS owner Mitch Ross and he denied Vobora had a tainted supplement created by his company. Ross pointed out that Vobora did not buy the supplement – someone gave it to him – and Ross claims to have a picture of Vobora’s locker that shows he may have been using other supplements.

"There is no banned substance in the spray," Ross told the Post-Dispatch.
