Wade Phillips back with Texans

Houston Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips returned for a couple of hours on Monday, after missing the past two games with kidney and gall bladder surgery.

In Phillips' absence, the Texans have lost to Carolina and Indianapolis, taking Houston out of contention for a first-round bye in the playoffs.

Coach Gary Kubiak was hopeful that Phillips would be able to coach from the press box in Sunday's regular-season finale at home against the Tennessee Titans.

“Wade was at work today for a couple hours, met with the players and went through the game the other night. I’m hoping that’s kind of the process here leading into this weekend," Kubiak said. "Our goal would be that he would be in the press box on Sunday, but we’ll also see how he feels. A couple hours in the office today looked good.”
