Walt Anderson selected as referee for Super Bowl XLV
The NFL has announced that Walt Anderson will serve as the referee for Super Bowl XLV on Sunday.
This is the first Super Bowl Anderson will referee although he served as a line judge in Super Bowl XXXV 10 years ago. Andeson was promoted to referee in 2003. He has worked NFL games since 1996.
The Sugar Land, Texas, resident is a retired dentist who now serves as the coordinator of football officials for the Big 12 Conference. He has worked 13 playoff games in his NFL career and has been on a crew for at least one game every year since he became eligible.
