Wanna get away? Eagles do
While four NFL teams have already folded plans to get away for training camp this summer, the Philadelphia Eagles remain intent on packing their bags.
The Eagles believe their training experience in Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., not only aids the football team but serves the club’s fan base as well, a dual purpose the club is intent on serving.
"For us, it's a priority, so if there's any way to do it, we definitely will," team president Joe Banner said, according to Jonathan Tamari of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The Eagles don’t have scheduled dates yet and are going to wait until the last minute to announce their schedule in an effort to maximize their experience at Lehigh. If the Eagles were forced to remain at their complex to hold camp, they would not be allowed to permit fans access.
Some other clubs have modeled some of what they do in terms of the training camp experience on the Eagles’ blueprint.
