With the focus on defense, Saints inspect Ingram
The New Orleans Saints continue to keep the majority of their focus on the defensive side of the ball as they brought in linebacker Clint Ingram for a visit.
He could potentially fill the void created by the departure of Scott Fujita in free agency to the Cleveland Browns. Ingram became available when the Jacksonville Jaguars withdrew the tender they had made to him as a restricted free agent.
New Orleans has kept its focus on the side of the ball that is not led by Drew Brees. The Saints signed veteran defensive end Alex Brown after he was released by the Chicago Bears. They drafted Florida State cornerback Patrick Robinson in the first round. They want to make sure Gregg Williams’ defense is in top form, and Ingram has experience with Williams having played for him with the Jaguars.
Per the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Ingram has mostly been a starter on the strong side during his career and that would make him ideal as a candidate to replace Fujita. Ingram finished last season on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, and he became expendable after Jacksonville acquired veteran Kirk Morrison from the Oakland Raiders.
