Why are the Titans just now starting contract negotiations with Albert Haynesworth? The Nashville City Paper reported that the two sides are having “negotiations,” but don’t expect much now.

Signs of the time are everywhere.
The Arizona Cardinals are receiving much attention this week. They have spent many years being a chic and trendy pick among pundits at the beginning of every season, only to fade into a pack of disappointing teams by midseason.

This has to be about my 20th Senior Bowl. I usually attend whether I have players in the game or not. As an agent, it’s an event that’s worth one’s time so you can promote your draftees and free agents and network with NFL executives and coaches.
When I first started coming to the Senior Bowl in the late 1980s, there was no one here during the week except players and their agents, coaches and NFL management.
The Vikings’ ownership will say all the right things publicly about their commitment to staying in Minnesota, the love for the fans, etc.

A day like today makes the relative importance of the NFL, the Super Bowl and professional football in general feel small in the larger scheme.
First, a couple thoughts on the Cardinals (I will have more on the two Super Bowl teams in tomorrow’s Tuesday Thoughts).
As we prepare to watch the conference championship games on Sunday — a true football fan’s delight before the seemingly endless bye week and stream of inane media preceding the Super Bowl — I think back to a year ago when I was with the Packers.
We had raced past the Seahawks in the divisional round in the midst of a snowstorm and surprisingly mild mid-January temperatures.
