The San Francisco 49ers are adding former Arizona Cardinals running back Alfonso Smith to their roster.</p> <p>
Both Kendall Hunter and LaMichael James got injured this week. Hunter tore his anterior cruciate ligament. James dislocated his elbow.</p> <p>
Smith has experience.</p> <p>
He rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns for the Cardinals in four seasons.</p> <p>
Smith has played in 43 career games.</p> <p>
