Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson will plead not guilty to child abuse charges Wednesday, according to a spokeswoman for his lawyer.
Mary Flood, lawyer Rusty Hardin's spokeswoman, also said that a potential trial date will be discussed Wednesday.
There are scenarios where a trial won't happen soon.
Peterson is being paid during a leave of absence on the commissioner's exempt list.
Peterson is accused of whipping his four-year-old son with a tree branch, causing cuts and lacerations to the boy's legs, scrotum, buttocks and hands.
