Two-week furloughs began earlier this week for employees of the Detroit Lions, but that didn’t stop them from scrounging up enough money to make a hire during the midst of the NFL lockout.
The team announced that Brandon Fisher, the son of former Tennessee Titans/Houston Oilers head coach Jeff Fisher, has been added as an assistant to the defensive coaching staff.
Fisher was a voluntary assistant for part of last season with the Titans, his father’s final year with the franchise. He was a second team All-Big Sky Conference linebacker for Montana.
Lions coach Jim Schwartz came from the Titans and has a close relationship with Fisher. Reports were Fisher wanted to add his son to his staff on a full-time basis in Tennessee before he departed.
No word yet when Brandon Fisher will go on furlough, er, unpaid vacation.
