That didn’t take long.
When Shaun Suisham picked up with the Dallas Cowboys where he left off with the Washington Redskins—missing field goals he should have been making—it was only a matter of time before the Cowboys would get in the hunt for a new kicker.
Their search led them north of the border, and the Dallas Morning News reported that Sandro DeAngelis, the most accurate kicker in CFL history, had a tryout on Friday. It was a tryout that even owner Jerry Jones attended.
The Cowboys figured to be set long-term with Nick Folk, a former Pro Bowl performer, as their kicker. But he missed 10 field goals before losing his job and the Cowboys moved on to Suisham, a former Cowboy, and it didn’t get any better as the team finished with a 64.5 percent field goal percentage, a woeful number.
DeAngelis is a five-time West Division all-star with the Calgary Stampeders.
