Former NFL quarterback Brett Favre holds the NFL all-time record of 508 career passing touchdowns.
He doesn't mind that Peyton Manning is five touchdowns shy of tying his mark.
“I’m glad it’s Peyton that’s doing it,” Favre said. “I think a lot of Peyton. I know him well. I know his family well. His dad was one of my idols.”
Favre's records for completions, attempts and yards are all within striking distance of Manning by next season.
“I’m not surprised, as well as he’s been playing for so many years,” Favre said. “I think as far as wanting to hold onto the record, I mean I have no feelings of, ‘Oh, my gosh. I wish I could hold onto that.’ None whatsoever.”
Favre holds the record of 297 consecutive regular-season games. Manning can't touch that one with his streak of 208 straight games halted by neck surgery in 2012.
“I’m proud that I threw for 508 touchdowns, but I’m most proud of my consecutive games streak,” Favre said. “None of those other records are possible unless you play a long time. And I know Peyton missed a year. Aside from that year, he’s played just like I did. I mean, he’s been out there over and over and over again. And that’s the only way you amass the numbers that he has.”
