The Arizona Cardinals have signed veteran inside linebacker Ernie Sims to a one-year contract.
They signed him days after Daryl Washington was suspended for the entire season for violating the NFL substance-abuse policy again.
Sims worked out for the team last week.
Over the past two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, the former Detroit Lions' first-round draft pick started a dozen games and recorded 86 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.
Sims could start next to Kevin Minter, but will face competition from Larry Foote.
