The Kansas City Chiefs have discussed a new contract with star running back Jamaal Charles, according to the Kansas City Star.

The Star reports that Chiefs are confident that Charles will report to training camp even if a contract extension hasn't been reached.

There was a KCTV5 report that Charles is planning a holdout.

Charles is a three-time Pro Bowl selection who gained 1,980 yards from scirmmage last season with 19 total touchdowns.

Charles is due $3.9 million this season, which is low for a running back of his stature.
