Christian Ponder suffered a hip pointer in the Minnesota Vikings’ loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday at the Metrodome.
The injury will lead Joe Webb to get reps with the first-team offense in practice on Wednesday, but it is not expected to affect Ponder’s availability for the team’s game at Detroit, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
“He's a guy that has relied on his mobility at times, and (hip pointers) can be a little tricky,” Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said. “But trainers are telling me that he should be fine. He's going to take a few days, but he should be fine by the time we get ready to line up on Sunday.”
The Vikings added Sage Rosenfels as a third quarterback last week after Donovan McNabb was waived.
