Daryn Colledge has signed his tender as a restricted free agent with the Green Bay Packers leaving the team with only three veterans not under contract.
Defensive end Johnny Jolly and defensive backs Tramon Williams and Atari Bigby have yet to sign their tenders. What Bigby is waiting for, we can only speculate. His position would seem to be in jeopardy after the club traded up in the third round to draft Georgia Tech safety Morgan Burnett.
“Time to go to work,” Colledge told Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Colledge, who was the starting left guard to open last season, will be in competition for that spot this year with fellow veteran Jason Spitz. The report indicates that Colledge has been unhappy with his second round tender of $1.759 million, but he didn’t play very well last season and that’s why the job is unsettled. T.J. Lang, a rooke last season, could also figure in the competition. Obviously, the Packers are hoping to have an improved line this season after Aaron Rodgers was sacked more than any other quarterback in the league a year ago.
