Jay Cutler has lobbied for help at wide receiver in the past.
He’s also suggested he’d like input in roster decisions, something he said in training camp last summer with the Chicago Bears.
But don’t expect Cutler to lobby for his team to add veteran wide receiver Terrell Owens after the Bears went through the draft without selecting a wide receiver.
"T.O. is a pretty good player, but for this system ... I don't know how he would fit in," Cutler said, according to Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune. "Our receiver position, I think, is one of the strengths of the team. I think there are other needs that we could have addressed if we didn't go that direction."
Cutler took a strong liking to Devin Aromashodu last season and it’s expected that the big target will have a central role in the offense under new coordinator Mike Martz.
"We're going to use a lot of receivers this year,'' Cutler said. "They're learning the system, just like I am. It's a little bit different than what they're used to, a little bit more Z cuts. D.A. has looked good so far. I'm definitely excited for him."
