The story that won’t end about the man who won’t stop playing has come to an end.

Brett Favre has been made inactive by the Minnesota Vikings for tonight’s game against the New York Giants at Ford Field, bringing to an end his streak of 297 consecutive regular-season games started.

Favre has a sprained right shoulder that reports have said will require about three weeks to recover from. Including the postseason, he has 321 consecutive starts and he holds nearly all NFL passing records.

Tarvaris Jackson will be the starting quarterback tonight. You have to wonder if Favre will return to action or if his career is over. The Vikings have only three games remaining after tonight’s game. The next one is next Monday against the Chicago Bears. Where the game will be played remains to be determined after the Metrodome roof collapsed on Sunday.
