Frank Gore participated in Wednesday’s practice in full pads for the San Francisco 49ers, but the running back was hobbled some by a sprained left ankle.

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports Gore “was clearly favoring his left ankle” during practice, including change-of-direction drills. He was injured during the first half of Sunday’s victory over the Washington Redskins.

It’s a big game for the Niners this Sunday as they play another NFC East foe in a game that could have ramifications for playoff seeding. They’re hosting the New York Giants (6-2) at Candlestick Park, a chance to ensure they win a tiebreaker should the teams finish with the same record at the end of the regular season.
