The New York Giants have already been doing some juggling on their offensive line and they’ll do some more now with savvy left tackle David Diehl sidelined for at least a few weeks.
According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, Diehl is battling a partially torn hamstring as well as a muscle injury in his hip. Per the report, he could miss “several weeks,” which will force the Giants to play Shawn Andrews at left tackle for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
The injuries will end Diehl’s streak of 127 consecutive starts and they come at a time when the offense is already dealing with the absence of center Shaun O’Hara, who is out with a foot injury. His backup Adam Koets is out for the season with a torn ACL.
Diehl was a Pro Bowl performer last season, so it’s no minor loss for the NFC East-leading Giants.
