The Jacksonville Jaguars got a head start on getting their roster to the 80-player limit by Tuesday's 4 p.m. EDT deadline, trimming five players from the roster on Thursday, the club announced.
Those let go included receiver Tiquan Underwood, safety Michael Hamlin, linebacker Slade Norris and first-year kickers Sam Swank and Brent Bowden.
Underwood was a former seventh-round pick of the Jags in 2009.
Teams have to reduce their roster to the 53-man limit by Sept. 3.
