The Carolina Panthers restructured the contract of linebacker Jon Beason.
Due a $5.25 million base salary and carrying a $9.5 milllion salary-cap figure for this season, Beason is signed to a five-year, $51.5 million contract that included $25 million in guaranteed money.
No details on the restructure were immediately available, but the contract runs through the 2016 season. So, the Panthers can free up salary-cap space to add other players.
The Panthers hosted free agent offensive lineman Travelle Wharton this week and could have other plans.
The Panthers were $9.45 million under the NFL salary cap limit of $123 million prior to the Beason restructure.
