Lawrence Taylor backs the comeback of Tiki Barber

Maybe it’s not worth a whole lot, but if there is one person who believes Tiki Barber can successfully mount a comeback after four years away from the game, it’s another former New York Giants great.

Lawrence Taylor calls Barber’s decision to return at age 36 a “great move,” and given the running back’s failed television career and disintegrated marriage, why not?

Taylor told Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. “But I've seen Tiki a bunch of times over the years and he's really taken care of himself. He's got to prove himself, but I know he'll work his butt off to do it.

“I'd rather have a Tiki Barber than some unknown third-rounder. He's going to be fine. He should go play for another two to four years if he thinks he can do it. What did he play, nine years [Barber played 10]? He left clean, he'll be fine.”

Of course, the history for running backs at age 35 and beyond doesn’t agree with Taylor. But he supports the idea Barber can make a real run for it.
