The Seattle Seahawks want to sign running back Marshawn Lynch to a new contract.
They're scheduled to sit down with him next week.
Lynch is under contract through next season.
Lynch is due $6.5 million next year. The Seahawks can save $7 million if they cut him, but that's not expected to happen.
Lynch rushed for 1,306 yards and 17 touchdowns this season.
"He's under contract next year and he's a warrior,'' Seahawks general manager John Schneider said of Lynch. "He goes out there every weekend and lays it on the line. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better running back in the National Football League."
