NFL cuts: Taco Charlton's stint with Chiefs a wrap (NFL)

Former first-round pick Taco Charlton was among the players released by the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday in the latest round of roster cuts around the NFL.

Charlton had two sacks with the Chiefs last season and was a first-rounder in 2017 with the Dallas Cowboys.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Monday the move was difficult, but prodded by younger defensive ends performing better in training camp.

“I hope he hooks on somewhere,” Reid said.

NFL teams are required to reduce their rosters to 80 by Tuesday.

In addition to Charlton, the Chiefs released safety Will Parks and guard Bryan Witzmann. Linebacker Riley Cole and quarterback Anthony Gordon were waived.
