1 (5) |
Grady Jarrett, DT, Clemson |
| Falcons came into the draft looking to bolster their defense. They did that with Beasley in round 1, and then again with a solid pick in Jarrett. At 6-1, 304, Jarrett has the size and speed to make an impact on the Atlanta defense. Look for him to be disruptive. |
2 (5) |
David Cobb, RB, Minnesota |
| A lot of people are very high on David Cobb. In a draft that was not too dominated by running backs, scooping Cobb in the 5th might be one of the best RB pickups you'll see in 2015. |
3 (5) |
Rashad Greene, WR, Florida State |
| This is a great wide receiver. He's coming off of a great season where he was Jameis Winston's go-to guy; Greene has had experience as "the man" before, and that confidence and success should help him come into the NFL and make a difference. |
4 (5) |
Ben Heeney, ILB, Kansas |
| Deceptively fast line backer, he ran a 4.59 at the combo. Good pick up for Oakland, Heeney is a hard-working, strong, fast linebacker who wraps up and does a great job chasing the ball down. |
5 (5) |
Martell Spaight, OLB, Arkansas |
| Played junior college before going to Arkansas. He's a bit undersized, but he's a tough player who will have a chance to maybe add some size and make a difference in the league. |
6 (5) |
Adrian Amos, S, Penn State |
| A very smart player, who is ready for the NFL. At his size, he's very quick, and combined with his IQ for the game he is able to make plays in coverage. |
7 (5) |
MyCole Pruitt, TE, Southern Illiois |
| Good pick for Minnesota in the 5th. Small conference tight end with a lot of size, if he works on some things he can be a good tight end in the league. |
8 (5) |
Mykkele Thompson, S, Texas |
| Thompson has good size and strength. He's a smart player too, so combined with his physical gifts, he can be a difference maker for the G-Men. |
9 (5) |
Bobby McCain, CB, Memphis |
| An interesting pick, as McCain is very comparable to Brent Grimes. He's undersized, athletic, and a ball of energy. Just like Grimes. It will be interesting to see the two of them play together. |
10 (5) |
Stephon Diggs, WR, Maryland |
| A fantastic pick in the 5th round, Diggs has the chance to become a big name in the NFL. If not for injuries the past two years, Diggs is probably a first or second round pick. And he still has that talent as long as he can stay healthy. One of the best kept secrets in the draft is now off the board. |
11 (5) |
Brett Hundley, QB, UCLA |
| Great guy to back-up Aaron Rodgers and absorb as much as possible. A dual-threat QB who has potential to be good in the NFL, the Packers secured a solid back up option. |
12 (5) |
David Tull, OLB, Chattanooga |
| One of the best pure athletes in the draft, good pick for New Orleans in the 5th. He didn't play against the highest of competition in college, so that could be an issue for him, or his athleticism will overcome it. |
13 (5) |
Jay Ajayi, RB, Boise State |
| Another guy whose draft stock fell dramatically becuase of past injuries. Ajayi had knee issues, but the Dolpins take a chance on him here in the 5th. He could potentially have a big upside. |
14 (5) |
Cedric Thompson, S, Minnesota |
| A pretty big guy, Thompson can cover wide receivers and tight ends. His size and skills are his strengths, but his weaknesses are his IQ and awareness, so he'll need to improve there. |
15 (5) |
David Perry, DT, Stanford |
| Good raw lineman, if he puts on some more size he can be a force. Strengths coming in are his form and tackling, at 300 pounds he was able to throw some people around at Stanford. |
16 (5) |
Jarvis Harrison, G, Texas A&M |
| Just a massive individual the Jets go here. Harrison has played a lot of games for A&M and should be ready for the league. Could be a big key for the Jets for a while. |
17 (5) |
Kyle Emanuel, OLB, North Dakota State |
| Another high IQ player from a mid major. San Diego took a chance here with Emanuel but it could pay off. |
18 (5) |
Tyeler Davison, DT, Fresno State |
| Huge guy for a defensive tackle at 316 pounds. Just what the Saints needed, especially in the 5th round. Could make an impact right away. |
19 (5) |
Karlos Williams, RB, Florida State |
| Karlow Williams is one of those guys who is a fantastic athlete. Not sure what Buffalo has planned for him, but he can do a variety of thing well. |
20 (5) |
Tony Lippett, WR, Michigan State |
| Lippett brings leadership and experience from his time at Michigan State, as well as a tremendous amount of skill. |
21 (5) |
C.J Uzomah, TE, Auburn |
| Cincy does already have Eifert, but he's been hurt in the past, and it's never a bad idea to have a back up. Uzomah is a big dude, and should be competitive in camp. |
22 (5) |
Shaquille Riddick, DE, West Virginia |
| Cardinals got a good one late in this draft. Riddick is a big, strong, talented player who tore it up at WVU. Arizona is lucky to have him this late. |
23 (5) |
Jamarcus Nelson, WR, UAB |
| Comparable to John Brown, who the Cards picked up last year in the draft. He's short, but explosive and speedy. He'll make an immediate impact. |
24 (5) |
Jesse James, TE, Penn State |
| He'll do nicely under Heath Miller's wing. He's a physical speciman at 6'7, and if he develops well could turn into a stud down the road. |
25 (5) |
Neiron Ball, OLB, Florida |
| Didn't get much time at UF, but certainly has the skills and the size to make an impact for the Raiders. |
26 (5) |
Kenny Bell, WR, Nebraska |
| A great candidate to catch long Jameis Winston touchdown passes. Kenny Bell will make a name for himself by frustrating corners and blowing by them. |
27 (5) |
Ryan Russell, DE, Purdue |
| Didn't make that much noise in college, but he's a big body with the potential to become a defensive force if he improves and gets bigger. |
28 (5) |
Lorenzo Doss, CB, Tulane |
| Small, undersized, but what he lacks in size he makes up for in energy and athleticism. He will occasionally get beat becuase of his size but he'll make plays time and time again. |
29 (5) |
Bradley Pinion, P, Clemson |
| Good punter in college, has a huge leg, only questions are those of accuracy. |
30 (5) |
Joe Cardona, LS, Navy |
| Good long snapper from Navy, his Naval committment could possibly interfere with his playing career. |
31 (5) |
Damian Swann, CB, Georgia |
| A great raw athlete, that helped him to be able to make plays in college. In NFL he might need to improve on a few things, won't be able to just get by on athleticism. |
32 (5) |
Michael Burton, FB, Rutgers |
| Played at Rutgers for five seasons, a great guy in the locker room, and great fundamentals on the field. He's always going to be a consistent blocker, and he's good for a few yards and short yardage situation. A classic fullback, good guy to have on your team. |
33 (5) |
David Mayo, LB, Texas State |
| Could end up on special teams or practice squad, good size and athleticism. |
34 (5) |
Tye Smith, CB, Towson |
| Great athlete at the cornerback position, classic pick up for Seattle he'll fit in on that defense. |
35 (5) |
Nick Boyle, TE, Delaware |
| A Delaware target for Joe Flacco to throw to, Boyle is a big dude at 6'4 with good hands. Another TE for the Ravens, Boyle could be one to see some time. |
36 (5) |
DJ Alexander, ILB, Oregon State |
| Solid prospect with size and experience at Oregon State. He could contribute this season for the Chiefs. |
37 (5) |
James O'Shaugnhessy, TE, Illinois State |
| A basketball player type tight end is how O'Shaugnhessy has been described. He's a big dude who can elevate and has good hands. Good pickup for the Chiefs. |
38 (5) |
Cameron Artis-Payne, RB, Auburn |
| Never showed star qualities but Artis-Payne was a solid RB at Auburn after playing in JC. He's got the ability to be a decent NFL running back, but don't expect him to be all-pro. |
39 (5) |
Keith Mumphery, WR, Michigan State |
| Mumphery is a great guy to have in the locker room. He was great at MSU and will be in the NFL. He doesn't have trememdous skill, but he is an incredibly hard worker. |
40 (5) |
Robert Myers, OG, Tennessee Staete |
| Myers is a great pass protector, who is NFL ready for the position. Baltimore gets a great pick up here to close out the 5th. |
