The NFL has upheld the decision by the New York Giants to place wide receiver Victor Cruz, the preseason sensation, and injured reserve with a hamstring injury that was originally considered to be very minor.

According to Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger, the league looked into the matter and an independent doctor concurred with the finding the Giants made, that the injury would sideline Cruz a minimum of six weeks. Cruz was injured running sprints last Monday, and said he would return this week.

But league spokesman Michael Signora said the move satisfied the NFL. The wiggle room the Giants have, of course, is that hamstring injuries can linger for weeks on end. The Giants know that all too well as a pesky hamstring injury sidelined cornerback Aaron Ross for the majority of last season.
