Oakland Raiders left offensive tackle Jared Veldheer was placed on injured reserve-designated to return with a torn left triceps that required surgery.
Offensive tackle Matt McCants was promoted from the practice squad to replace him on the roster.
It's a blow to the Raiders' offense.
Veldheer started the last 42 games at left tackle, missing just a single snap during that span.
Veldheer is a former third-round draft pick who drew high grades last season.
