The Washington Redskins hired Robb Akey as their new defensive line coach.
Akey was the assistant defensive line coach for th4e Minnesota Vikings last season.
Everson Griffen had 12 sacks last season for the Vikings.
Akey has 25 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level, including serving as head coach at the University of Idaho for six seasons.He led the Vandals to their second bowl game in school history in 2009, a a win over Bowling Green in the Humanitarian Bowl.
Akey spent eight seasons at Washington State, where he coached the defensive line and was the defensive coordinator.
