It would appear that Adrian Peterson is intent on fighting the misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest that he picked up Saturday morning after a nightclub incident in Houston.

Why else would the Minnesota Vikings running back retain the services of Rusty Hardin, a high-profile attorney?

But NFL.com reports Peterson could get off with just a fine in the case because it is a misdemeanor and he has a clean record. Houston Police Department spokesperson Kese Smith said the case will likely be completed soon.

Peterson is due in court on Friday. Maybe he’s content paying a fine and going on his way. Or perhaps he has Hardin on his side now to fight the charge and declare his innocence. Stay tuned.
