Five teams have interest in acquiring Osi Umenyiora but right now it’s unlikely any one of them steps up and puts the first-round draft pick on the table that the New York Giants are demanding in trade.
Umenyiora has two years remaining on his contract at a total $7 million and is adamant he wants a new deal from the Giants or a trade (and a new deal). Vacchiano suggests the Giants might have to lower their demand to a second rounder to get a deal done, or perhaps a second and a later pick.
Scuttlebutt is that Umenyiora will not play for the Giants without a new contract. So, this story isn’t going to end any time soon.
