The Carolina Panthers are attempting to trade veteran wide receiver Steve Smith, according to ESPN.
If he's not traded, there's a possibility that the star wide receiver could be cut.
Per the report, the Panthers said Smith remains on the roster
The 34-year-old has a $7 million salary-cap figure. His status has been a topic of conversation since Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said that Smith's role is under evaluation.
That angered Smith, the Panthers' all-time leading receiver, who has met with Gettleman to discuss the situation.
Smith caught 64 passes for 745 yards and four touchdowns last season.
