The New Orleans Saints and star tight end Jimmy Graham are approaching an NFL deadline to strike a new long-term deal.
If the two sides don't hammer out a new contract before a Tuesday 4 p.m. deadline, then Graham will play this season under a $7.053 million franchise tender.
Graham and the Saints went to arbitration over a dispute over whether he should be designated as a tight end or a wide receiver under the franchise tag.
The Saints won the argument, saving them roughly $5 million.
Whether a compromise on a long-term deal will be accomplished at the last minute remains to be seen.
