Toby Gerhart will not be able to participate in OTA’s when the Minnesota Vikings get going next week, and his status for minicamp next month is up in the air because of the schedule at Stanford.

The NFL has a rule preventing draft picks from participating in more than a rookie minicamp until after their schools have held graduation. That creates problems for players coming from schools using the quarter system like Stanford.

Gerhart is scheduled to graduate with a degree in Management Science and Engineering on June 13 and Minnesota’s minicamp is June 11-13, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Classes end June 9 and Gerhart is trying to find a way to participate in minicamp, and surely he’d like to participate in graduation as well.

"We're trying to figure out how all that is going to work out," Gerhart said. "I don't know. We'll see. We're trying to figure out how to get around everything so I can make it to that."

"I'm just out here running and lifting on my own and trying to learn as much as I can without being there," he added.
