Shaun Ellis admits he sometimes catches himself referring to his old team, the New York Jets, as "we," even though now he is a member of the rival New England Patriots.
Ellis will get his first shot to go against his old team this Sunday when the Jets come to Gillette Stadium to face the Patriots in a key AFC East battle.
“When (I’m) talking, they’ll be like, ‘You with us now, you ain’t over there,’ ” Ellis told the Boston Herald. “Just got to retrain my whole thinking. I’d been there forever.”
Since defecting to the Patriots this off-season, Ellis has had Sunday's date circled on his calendar as it marks his first time going against his old team, and for fans, it just adds one more ingredient to one of the AFC's spiciest rivalries.
