Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick suffered a broken nose, or what Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News described as “damaged cartilage in his nose” diving for a pass in training camp on Thursday.

How that happens with a helmet on, we’re not certain yet. Chalk it up to another freak injury for the talented Scandrick, who right now is running as the Cowboys’ third cornerback. Fraley speculates that Scandrick could potentially be held out of the team’s preseason game Saturday night at Houston.

Scandrick was injured in practice during the spring when he broke the fourth finger on his right hand making a play on a pass. Sure beats the other kinds of injuries players can be subject to in practice.
