The Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed to a five-year, $44 million contract extension with center Maurkice Pouncey, making him the highest-paid center in the NFL.
Pouncey is coming off a torn anterior cruciate ligament and had one remaining season on his rookie contract.
Pouncey's contract included a $13 million signing bonus, according to Pro Football Talk.
Pouncey has a three-year payout of $26.5 million.
Pouncey's deal exceeds Cleveland Browns center Alex Mack's five-year, $42 million contract the AFC North club matched when the Jacksonville Jaguars signed him to an offer sheet.
