Pittsburgh Steelers rookie running back Le'Veon Bell suffered a mid-foot sprain and will not require surgery, according to Steelers coach Mike Tomlin.
Bell is expected to miss six to eight weeks with a reported Lisfranc injury.
"Over the past 72 hours, coach Tomlin says the team is encouraged that Le'Veon Bell is responding well to treatment of mid-foot sprain," the Steelers said in a statement.
Bell sprained his foot against the Washington Redskins, the latest injury setback for the second-round draft pick.
He got a second opinion on his foot injury after undergoing a magnetic resonance imaging exam.
