And you thought the NFLPA wanted to crack down on OTA’s that have too much contact between players in them.

Perhaps they need to look into Steve Smith’s youth football camp too. The Carolina Panthers wide receiver suffered a broken left arm over the weekend playing flag football, according to Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com.

Smith had surgery Sunday night and will not be ready when training camp opens in roughly five weeks.

Smith missed the final game of the 2009 season with a fracture in his left arm. It had healed and now it is broken again. The hope is that the explosive performer will be ready for the beginning of the season. The Panthers have an unsettled situation at wide receiver, not to mention quarterback.
