The Detroit Lions have gone out of their way to let you know that wide receiver Titus Young has not been suspended for sucker-punching Louis Delmas in an offseason workout.
But coach Jim Schwartz cannot say when Young will return to the club’s offseason program. According to Anwar Richardson of MLive.com, no one knows when Young will “be allowed back into the team’s” facility.
“I think I addressed that a couple of days ago,” Schwartz said, per the report. “That's the most I'm going to address it. When there is a change, I will address it again.”
But Schwartz did speak in very general terms about what happens when there is a fight between teammates.
"There's all kinds of different things," Schwartz said. "There's things that happen. There's some things that should be avoided. There's other things that can't be avoided. Every single situation is a little bit different.
"One thing you don't want to have, if you're on the field, fighting is a 15-yard penalty and cause for ejection. Those things are not good for us."
The bet here is what Young did is the kind of thing that should be avoided. And while the Lions are not saying as much, it looks like they are sending a clear message. Maybe Schwartz will address it when Young finally returns.
