The San Francisco 49ers have signed running back Phillip Tanner.
Tanner was signed after Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde suffered injuries.
Tanner was signed for depth. Gore is coming off a concussion. Hyde has back and ankle problems.
Tanner has played for the Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys. He's rushed for 149 yards and two career touchdowns for the Cowboys.
