Steelers place Maurkice Pouncey, Larry Foote on IR

The Pittsburgh Steelers placed three players on season-ending injured reserve after the first week of the season.

Center Maurkice Pouncey (ACL/MCL), linebacker Larry Foote (ruptured biceps) and running back LaRod Stephens-Howling (right knee) were moved to the designation. All were injured Sunday in Pittsburgh's 16-9 loss to Tennessee.

The Steelers announced three signings to replace them.

The organization inked running back Jonathan Dwyer, center Fernando Velasco and kicker Shayne Graham.

Dwyer rejoins the Steelers after they surprisingly cut him while trimming their roster down to 53. With the running game's problems against Tennessee, Dwyer could step back into the starting race, at least for as long as rookie Le'Veon Bell is out.
