Some suggested recently that Andre Gurode was on his way out of Dallas, the result of a big contract and the quick development of Phil Costa, a former undrafted free agent in his second season.

But Costa will be on the sideline two to four weeks now with a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, according to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.

That means Gurode, who was out at the start of training camp as he recovered from surgery during the offseason, will be the man to start the season. But even as of late the two were splitting reps in practice, a good sign the club was moving toward Costa. He’ll have to pick up where he left off.
