Hard-hitting Tennessee Titans safety Bernard Pollard is out for the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon.
He'll have surgery Tuesday.
Pollard got hurt on special teams trying to block an extra point in a loss to the Cleveland Browns.
Pollard is the Titans' leading tackler with 27 tackles. He led the Titans with 142 tackles last season and intercepted three passes.
"Bernard has been a good leader and a good player for us," Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "That happens in this game. It's unfortunate. We'll certainly hope he stays involved with our team, which I think is an important piece of it. But I know how disappointed he was, as we all are."
