The undefeated Indiana Hoosiers get to prove they’re for real this weekend when they face the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Indiana may be undefeated and fighting for top spot in the Big Ten, but they’re big underdogs this weekend, with oddsmakers pegging them as 12.5-point road ‘dogs.
The Hoosiers are coming off their bye week and last took the field two weeks ago when they upset Michigan 20-15 as 14.5-point underdogs. Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke passed for 206 yards with a pair of touchdown passes and an interception in the win.
On the road the Hoosiers have won three straight, and they’ve been a strong pick for bettors with six straight wins ATS. When they’re listed as underdogs it hasn’t been as successful with a 1-9 SU record and 4-6 ATS mark in their last 10. However, as an underdog they have won four straight ATS.
Ohio State is coming off an easy 31-7 won over Northwestern, but they failed to cover the spread as 28-point favorites. That dropped them to 5-5 ATS on the season. Against the Wildcats Ohio State quarterback Will Howard passed for 247 yards with two touchdowns and the running back duo of Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson combined for 150 yards and two TDs on the ground.
Not surprisingly, the Buckeyes have been extremely tough at home with 12 straight wins and they’re 19-1 SU in their last 20. During their win streak the Buckeyes are 8-4 ATS, but only 3-3 ATS in their last six. In the last 20 games at home they’re a solid 12-7-1 ATS.
For total bettors this matchup skews in opposite directions for each team. On the road the Hoosiers have been a consistent Over with 10 straight games Over the posted total. Ohio State has gone Under the total in three straight at home and they’re 7-3 Under in their last 10. However, in the last seven matchups between Ohio State and Indiana the Over is 6-1.
Speaking of those previous matchups, Ohio State has completely dominated them. Last year Ohio State defeated Indiana 23-3 as 30-points favorites. That was the Buckeyes 24th straight win against them, during which they’re 13-11 ATS.
